offline edit

Image
Shown below is the first offline edit. This was created as our first draft before we finished filming to gage an idea on how they all fit together and what we may need to refilm. After putting the first edit we realized that quite a few shots would need to be re-filmed and the ending still needed to be finished. So we thought it would make more sense to refilm it all so shown below is the second offline edit of all the clips together.

lighting

In this blog post I will be explaining the lighting we will be able to use for our short film. Three Point Lighting. A traditional method for achieving a balanced and aesthetically pleasing look in cinema and photography is three points of illumination (three point lighting). The key light, fill light, and backlight are the three main light sources that are used.  The shadows that the main light casts are softened by the fill light. It is positioned on the side opposite the primary light and works to equal out the lighting by lowering the contrast on the subject.  The main topic or subjects are lit from behind by the backlight, which creates depth by separating the main subject from the background. It makes the edges of the subject stand out in a spotlight, giving them depth and dimension.  You can manage the atmosphere, highlight certain elements, and produce an appealing environment by utilizing three-point lighting. Chiaroscuro Using the chiaroscuro lighti...

In this document i will discuss the conventions of short film i have looked at About a girl, Finley and The Tunnel. About a girl is a short film about this young girl who seemingly feels alone and has no support to pursue her talent. This is shown by how she is not really cared for by her parents who are split up.  To begin with it follows the length convection by it being 9:51 minutes long, which follows as typically they are between 3-20 minutes long. Where as Finley was around 25 minutes long it had more of a storyline and in depth to what is happening meeting more characters. The Tunnel was around the same length as About a girl but it only has 1 character but uses diegetic and non diegetic audio to portray the story to put you on edge. They all have at least one thing in common and that is they all show a strong emotion. They also all show curiosity which is another convention. They all show this in different ways, such as About a girl makes us curious to why she threw a new b...
